I think this approach is fine. I must say having been doing this for years, treating hundreds and thousands of men I have been underwhelmed with the results with topicals. Injections can cause peaks and valley and I have many younger men inject twice a week that smooths out the peaks and valleys. I think it is appropriate to follow the advice of your primary doctor and endocrinologist. I have just seen too many men spend months or years with gels with sub optimal results. Many men are diagnosed with depression and are not really depressed (I have no idea if this applies to you), but the presumed depression is base dupon low T.
My recommendation would be to pursue this but if a few months pass and results are modest consider another approach. Pellets are one approach to have smooth levels of T and are placed every 4 months.

Yes, it’s the hidden testosterone killer in your home! Hormone-scrambling substances enter our water through dumping and runoff from pharmaceutical companies and other corporate polluters. Every year, millions of tons of pollutants enter our food and water system… and of more than 80,000 synthetic chemicals in use today, over 870 of them have been positively identified as hormone disruptors [13] . Yes, that’s almost a thousand chemicals sending your body’s natural hormone balance spiraling out of whack every time you take a sip of water or sit down for a meal…

All bets are off the table when high-dose testosterone and its many metabolites are used illegally, such as with anabolic steroid abuse. Strokes, embolisms, and cardiovascular disease are all more likely, as is sudden death, and liver and kidney disease. 44 In women, acne, irreversible deepening of the voice, baldness, increased facial hair, enlarged sex organs, breast reduction, depression, and infertility have all been reported. In adult men that abuse anabolic steroids, acne, baldness, permanent infertility, gynecomastia, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, testicle shrinkage, and profuse sweating are all reported side effects. Increased testicular cancer hasn't been reported, though. 45,46

Of course, Arimidex is often used by steroid users to decrease over-aromatization from driving their testosterone into supraphysiological zones, . way above normal, which in turn leads to elevated estradiol.  They aslo use it post-cycle period when they are desperately trying to get their testosterone jumpstarted - sometimes unsucccessfully I might add. As strange and annoying as this is, steroid users and fertility doctors were some of the early pioneers of Armidex usage.
